What are UTM parameters?

UTM parameters are marketing tags added to URLs so analytics tools can identify where a visit came from.

Common UTM tags

The most common examples are utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content. They usually appear after a question mark in a URL.

Why people remove them

UTM tags can make links long, noisy, and easier to attribute after sharing. Removing them usually keeps the destination intact while dropping campaign tracking details.

How Flint handles UTM tags

Flint removes parameters that start with utm_, plus other common tracking parameters such as fbclid and gclid.
